A small introduction to Bram's talk:
Numerical modelling of geotechnical uncertainty
Reliability analysis of geotechnical structures typically involves significant uncertainties in material parameters, which even the best site investigation cannot take away completely. To make optimal use of available site investigation data, numerical models for design and assessment of geotechnical structures should account for these uncertainties with a minimum of (conservative!) assumptions. This talk will highlight some of the aspects of modelling uncertainty, mostly in the context of slope stability analysis.
